Different kind of chance me...please

I think that I am WAY below Yale's standards BUT I think I've succesfully conveyed to my colleges that I'm no person of means, luck, or opportunity. But I've still done okay (1860 SAT, 3.5 GPA, mediocre, etc.) but (so far) I got into

Boston University
Boston College
Cornell University (Likely Letter)

If those schools accepted me (I know they're on pretty distant levels), do you believe there's some chance Yale might also?

It really depends on how much you can convince the adcoms that you've made the absolute best use of whatever environment/opportunities you've had. So, your essay counts for a lot.

Best of luck!

If you got a likely letter from Cornell with those stats, you must have some very redeeming qualities. Whether those qualities will get you into Yale, I have no idea.

Hey anything can happen. And yea, I agree with flowersunshine, a likely letter def. shows you have something they're interested. good luck!

Im pretty much in the same boat SAT wise and I got a likely from Dartmouth, and have gotten into Hopkins and 9 other schools. The great thing about this whole application processs is that they really try to look at the whole person its really not all about the numbers. I've experienced and done things that go way beyond my scores and stuff and colleges love that. Good luck

Thanks for the honesty and the nice feedback. You luck to me, good luck to ya'll.

Wow. I admire you for being able to say that on this forum, especially with the overachievers that clutter this website with their "chance me's".

I just want to ask two things:

You have any special category you fall under: URM, athlete or legacy?

Do you have an extraordinary story to tell?

Your post seems honest, that's why I ask.

Oh, and good luck wherever you go.

Thanks Highlander. And to answer your question
I guess I'm URM (I'm Dominican-American). My story is not extraordinary but in my essay I told of my life in the 'hood, an environment that doesn't at all foster education, and a wish to one day provide for my younger siblings the opportunities I missed out on.
Yes, it's complete sob story but it's the truth and all I have to ride on.
