Difficulty of March SAT & Predicted Curves

What did you guys think of each individual section?

I thought the math in general was easy but they randomly put in some really hard problems.
Writing was ehh, I got an experimental section and I remember one being weirdly much harder than the other, anyone remember any from the experimental if you got it?
CR I thought was easier than January's but the classical music passage was really hard, so I'd save overall about normal.

Anyone know what the CR experimental was?

Question: are the curves determined beforehand or are they curved based on average raw scores?

I thought math was doable but somewhat challenging (I had experimental), writing was pretty easy as always (even though I thought seldomly was a word and messed up a MC), and critical reading, the bane of my existence, was as hard as ever. So far, I know I missed:
2 math
3 critical reading
1 writing (STUPID!!!)
Assuming I make another stupid mistake on each section, I hope I get around a 2270. That would make me extremely happy.

@kitts95: XD I originally had errored “seldom” because I thought that “seldomly” was its adverb form. I then mistakenly concluded that adjectives modify adverbs (the second “ly” in the sentence…) and so it must be “seldom”. I got lucky.

I know I got at least 1 wrong in CR. I sure as hell hope you guys are wrong about “categorical” and “undermine” in the classical music section.

@RMIB this is so frustrating! I had it as “no error” at first too… then when I went over my answers I got worried that I had too many "no error"s and that one of them was wrong. I should have just stuck with my gut feeling and kept it :l

Also, does anybody want to guess as to my individual scores, based on what I have above? I also omitted one critical reading question, just so people know when estimating. Thanks!

Good luck to all those still clinging to hope of an 2400!

IIRC if you get a double digit essay score, you could still get an 800.

I hope the CR reading curve is one of those generous “get 2 wrong = 800” tests.

@kitts

You didn’t indicate if you got any math wrong so I’m assuming you think you didn’t, so that’s an 800.

Missing one CR would also, most likely still be an 800 (depending on the curve, no less than a 790 though)

Assuming that you get a high essay score (10,11,12) you can still get an 800 in the Writing as well.

Really? I missed one MC (which gave me a 75 subscore) and an 11 essay in January and got a 790. I’m definitely not complaining, but I would love to get that 800!

I’m basing it off of charts in the Blue Book, we can’t be sure of the curve this time.

@james I wrote how many I missed in each section towards the top of the page (post #3). Can you base your predictions off of that? Assume an 11 essay.

Using the blue book (practice test 1)

Math- with 2 wrong would be a 52 raw, 770 scaled.
CR- with 3 wrong would be a 63 raw, 780 scaled.
W- with 1 wrong and an 11 essay would be 48 raw , 79 scaled for MC and combined with essay 800

Again- we can’t predict the curve for this SAT.
Total would be 2350, and that’s amazing no college is going to say “where are the 50 points!!!”

If I get that high of a score, I will literally scream. How many days before scores are released?

We get our scores March 29! Gosh, feels pretty close.

I hope you didn’t miss anything else and March 28th the scores are released.

Thanks! I can’t help but feel as if that 2350 is unattainable though… oh well. I guess we’ll find out in 19 days!

Can you get a single digit essay score and still score an 800?

If I bomb and score a 6 on the essay and get all the MC right, what would my range be?

What do you guys think a -1 math will be? Of the answers compiled here, I don’t see anything else I’ve missed. It sucks that the one I did miss was in the section that a -1 is never an 800, though. :/

-1 math is probably a 790. 760 pessimistically, maybe even an 800 though optimistically (I’ve seen it before…but it’s very rare).

I may be wrong, of course.

guys what do you think 3 wrong on the math would get me…i think the curve would be easy since the math was relatively difficult… what do you guys think

^3 wrong would probably get you low 700s.
