Dilemma About Honors Dorms/Quad

Hey everyone! I recently got accepted into the Business Honors Program at UT. Thus, the question of whether or not I should live in the Honors dorms or the newer/better-known dorms such as San Jacinto rises.

I would really like the convenience of being able to go to the gym whenever I want and such. However, I also don’t want to miss the community/opportunities/atmosphere of the “Honors program” by not living in the Honors dorms.

How far away is everything, ESPECIALLY Gregory Gymnasium, from the Honors dorms (in terms of travel time by walking/jogging)?

Thanks!

Isn’t walking to the gym exercise? Have you tried the walking directions on Google Maps to see the difference? I wouldn’t think it is more than a minute or two difference but I can’t say for sure.

@gettingschooled After posting this I looked at it and it said it was only a 0.4 mile distance. Thanks for the insight! It shouldn’t be too bad.

Live in the honors quad. It’s cheaper and there’s a much better sense of community. I live there this year and it takes me like 10 minutes to walk to the Gregory Gym area. Plus, Guadalupe (with all of the restaurants and West Campus) is one street away, which is so much more convenient.

Hey @BlaineF , I’ve decided to live in San Jacinto! I like how close it is to the stadium, gym, etc. and it seems like the cleanest/best dorm there! I like the whole private bath aspect.

@kaizen7 San Jac is where all a majority of the athletes live. It is probably the nicest on campus dorm. By the way, the UT RecSports center is a little closer to San Jac then Gregory Gym is.

@kaizen7 On our recent visit/tour a comment was made that living in San Jac means walking uphill to most everything from there and to take that into consideration. Just a possible consideration for you and others.
