Ok, so as well all know, admit weekend is April 23-25. Coincidentally, my school's annual orchestra trip is on those exact same dates. I don't know which one to go to and I was hoping maybe to get some feedback. Here are the facts of the matter:

-The orchestra trip is a big deal thing and every year we go to a different place. Last year was Montreal, this year is Boston.
-I have been to Boston once before during college visits.
-This will be the last chance for me to go on a high school trip with my friends.
-I have visited Stanford once before and I'm pretty much certain I'm going to enroll there.
-I live in NY and so getting to admit weekend would involve flying.

So, is admit weekend worth it? What exactly would I miss out on if I didn't go? i mean, is it something all admits should experience? I would love to be able to go but I am literally torn between the two options.

S is skipping admit weekend due to a high school grad night. He has been to Stanford twice before and insists he does not need to go again to make a decision. The parents disagree, but, since we are also on the east coast, we are not forcing the issue and we are saving $400.
Your reason for not going is a much better one, from a parent's perspective. There are threads on here discussing the artificial environment at admit weekend at Stanford and other schools. Try searching for those to get a better idea.

You can make arrangements with Stanford if you want to see some of what they do at admit weekend. Obviously it won't be the same as having all the kids there, but it will still give you the insider's perspective you won't have again until orientation. Go on your trip, if you feel like you're missing out then contact Stanford.

Ah, I so hope to be able to attend this; I've never visited! But, damn, curious, you must be very serious about this....you live on the East Coast and you've visited twice? Damn. I live in MN and my parents think it's too far to just visit without being accepted first!

Thanks everyone for your replies =D. So it seems that the overwhelming message here is that I should go on the trip instead of admit weekend. Beef Supreme, that was some very good advice.
