Dilemma...

So my parents keep bringing up financial aid for college.
They don't want me to go to a competitive private school because it will cost too much. He won't accept that fact that I don't want to go to the mediocre school that he, and most of the students from my high school, went. I'm applying to Penn RD, along with multiple other ivies etc, but I'm worried that i'm wasting my time with the whole process. They HAVE money, they just don't WANT to spend it on my college tuition. And if I get a full ride to X college, then I might have to go, even though I would be miserable. I want happiness, they want cheap. Whatever. Anyway i've seen so many people on CC who matriculate to their favorite schools without even considering their local public universities. If you get in, you go. Simple as that.

Does anyone have a similar problem? I seem to be alone here. I refuse to stay in this city any longer than I have to, but I also can't afford the cost of attending college on my own. Comments appreciated, sorry for the rant. ;)

Just take out some loans then pay them back, I’d rather be indebt and happy than debtfree and miserable

well assuming ur applying to upenn and other top private schools you should be fine… the lowest endowment of any ivy league is $5 billion and thats cornell. so lots of money=lots of aid= no worries. apply and u’ll get alot without a doubt.

Hmm. It’ll be a tough call with the loans. Hopefully something will work out in the end.

people graduate with loans from every single college there is… u’d be graduating from Penn and u will make money don’t worry

Start worrying after you’ve been accepted to all those places.
