Dilemma! :(

I have applied for a B. Arch Major to VirginiaTech. I got in for University Studies Program instead. I would really like to know:

What are the chances of getting into my desired major after a semester in VT itself?

What are the chances of getting into another Uni like Cornell or else where as a transfer student for a B.ARCH degree after the first semester of University Studies at VT?

I have gotten into Pratt (expensive!) for a B.Arch degree, as well as SCI Arc (no housing!) as well as CCA (not in the top ten, as rated by DesignIntelligence 2011).

SAT SCORE: 1850
TOEFL iBT: 107
I get good grades, but I am not familiar with the GPA system, or the credit system. I come from an Indian background in education. Also, I have no consult. I applied individually.

Should I go to VT anyway and work my ass off? I don't know about the community there. I hear its not so diverse.

Should I stay in India, go to SPA or JJ college for Architecture instead?

All the scholarships are past deadline, so I'm not even sure about Pratt.

Suggestions would be appreciated!

VT is an exceptionally good program, no doubt. Do a search on the VT forum and you may find information regarding transfer from University Studies to Arch. I know there has been discussion on this regarding Uni Studies to Engr in the past. I believe with Arch you are essentially ‘behind’ when you transfer, and need to make up classes (possibly over the summer?). I think the transfer from Uni Studies to Arch is very doable, but there are things you can do to make it easier. Post in the VT forum, or call the school and ask.
Good luck to you!
