Here are my plans! (Critique and Warn Me)

For starters, I want to major in architecture. HOWEVER, I was one of those unfortunate kids who wasn't exactly aware that I needed a portfolio to advance myself. I could make one, however it wouldn't be to the best of my ability! (especially because I only have two and half months left to make 15 pieces).

That being said, my school of chioice is Cornell University. However, my SAT score is 600M, 600CR, and 580W. I have a 4.0 right now in high school. (btw Im a senior right now in HS). I can't apply to cornell because they require a portfolio.

So here is my plan to get into Cornell University.

I'm planning on going to a school with an excellent B.Arch program. Virgnia Tech! they are currently in the Top 3... along with cornell :D. I plan on taking Architecture as a major, and ART as a minor. I will develop my portfolio greatly. Another thing is that I will be very FOCUSED on keeping my GPA above a 3.7. I will also try and become very friendly with professors (something im actually good at) and get rec forms from them.

Now, Is this a good idea? Or Am I risking TOO much? I do like virginia Tech as aschool, its nice, although the town is small.

P.S. I'm hispanic (Dominican Republic) and I've lived in DR for 3 years.

Please be honest and suggest ideas to me.

I don't see where you're taking any risks..it sounds like you're going to a school with a good architecture program. You have all the right ideas (strong GPA, good professor relations, field-related study). I would go to VTech FIRST, do all the things you mentioned, and see how you like it. Give it TIME..you aren't even in college yet. Post back here in a year and people will be more willing to help. Good luck.
