Background: Due to certain circumstances (life happens :/) I am being forced to withdraw from my university. I am a first year undergrad living in the dorm of my uni. I received Cal Grants, Pell Grants, scholarships and loans for the year, though it still wasn't enough to cover the total cost.

I am going to withdraw before the end of the term, and then attend community college in January. After 2 years I will transfer back to my uni (or a different one.)

My question: However, how will withdrawing from my university affect my financial aid? I know I will have to return all the money I received for this fall term, and will have to pay back the loans in full. I've got that covered. But will I no longer be eligible for grant programs like Pell and Cal once I apply for the FAFSA in January (for community college)?

Or is there a way I can transfer that Cal Grant $$ over to my community college funds? I heard that I can just send in a form for a "School Change" on the Cal Grant website, but I am not sure if this would apply to me since I am not transferring schools; I am withdrawing from one entirely and attending a community college instead.
