Dingledine decisions?

The website says no later than mid-March. One of my son's letters says April. Has anyone heard anything? I was thinking they would inform the five recipients with phone calls and then mail out rejections for the rest. I've been "Twitter stalking" to see if anyone has gotten a call, but so far nothing:)

Has anyone heard anything?

I don't see how we'll be able to wait until April. We have several other scholarship offers that have deadlines in March. I'm sure many other Dingledine kids are holding off on other offers as well.

Those who win hear in mid-march according to the website, but I know several finalists from last year who did not win and did not get their letters until early April. This was possibly because those who won were given some time to decide whether or not they wanted to accept the offers.

Thank you for this info! I was thinking it might work out that way…as far as giving winners a chance to accept or decline. JMU is my son’s top choice, but he will lose at least one of his full offers if he waits until April. He’s going to make some deadline extension phone calls to see if he can get some extra time. Eek. Awkward. One of those things that has to be done, I guess. With such an impressive field of competition for those five Dingledine slots, it’s important to have some fall back options!

p.s. If my son receives the Dingledine, he’ll accept it on the spot! LOL #godukes

The other schools should give am extension to May 1 when admissions deposits are due. This is stated by the admission counselor association, and in the accreditation standards for many universities and programs.

Hi KatMT, this is what I was wondering about the whole May 1st thing. We thought we had until then to make our decision. Then, we started getting scholarships that are worded in unusual ways “we’d appreciate your decision by” or even “to discuss an extension call…”

My husband thinks they’d like to know before May 1st, but that they can’t require it or withdraw the scholarship offer before then. But I’m completely intimidated by those “need to know by” dates.

Sigh. Isn’t it so obvious that this is my first child going to college and that I attended a trade school? LOL

All schools would like to know before May 1 because if a student turns down a scholarship they would like time to offer it to another student before the May 1 deposit deadline that most schools have. It should always be fine to ask for the extension.

It’s a no go for my son on the Dingledine… Oh well, it was an honor to be considered and all that jazz! I just thought I would share that we got his letter today so that everyone else could be expecting theirs. Good luck!!
