Dining Dollars

I feel that I might not have been using my dining dollars to my fullest potential last semester. I'm wondering if someone could tell me everywhere you could use them.

So far I know:
Einstein Bagels
Houston Market - chinese, sushi etc.
Mark's Cafe
Subway
Starbucks
The place under Commons

Thanks!

The place under Commons includes a convenience store, a burger place, and Hershey’s Ice Cream.

When I finally realized how much we got ripped off with the Freshman meal plan, I started to buy tons of stuff at the convenience store (included gallons of milk, even though they cost $2 bucks more there than at FroGro).

Locust Plan next year FTW

Starbucks under commons? I’ve been using cash at starbucks this entire semester :(

Oh, don’t forget about Au Bon Pain

The farmers market!

Yeah, I had forgotten Au Bon Pain- but I know that there are other places. There must be.

Code Monkey: being a freshman really is tough

i don’t know if this is still allowed but i knew people who would buy huge starbucks gift cards using their dining dollars… pretty much ensuring rollover

i once got my dining dollars extended over the summer when i was working at hup, but i don’t know if this is still allowed either

What’s the point of extending dining dollars? Why not just pay in cash? I’m a Penn student and I don’t even understand the point of having dining dollars to begin with. Is it just that it all gets billed to your parents?

Also - the Starbucks below commons hardly qualifies as a Starbucks. They are terrible at making drinks. The one on 34th and Walnut has trained baristas. If you’re going to pay >$2 for a coffee, it had better be good.

Likewise, the Subway does not qualify as a Subway. Almost everyone I know who has been there has left dissatisfied/with food poisoning. Einsteins, on the other hand, is fantastic.

Einstein is awesome. Lois makes my mornings brighter!

Lois always smiles when I see her too! Einstein is golden.

using dining dollars saves on tax, that’s the only benefit

but i wouldn’t get a dining plan after freshman year (or soph year, latest) unless you live in a kitchen-less dorm

food trucks ftw

I discovered the magic of food trucks this year. While my sodium intake has skyrocketed, my qualify of life has increased immensely.

I can’t believe that it seems that my list was complete. I was sure that there would be some kind of sit-down restaurant. Oh well, at least they have good sushi in Houston.

The food in Commons, Hill and Kings Court is actually good this year, so I would get a meal plan for next year, albeit a smaller meal plan, but the annoying thing is whenever you get a smaller meal plan they just reduce the meals like crazy, and so basically you’re buying dining dollars, which is pointless.

Falk Dining Commons if you like kosher food

McClelland Express

Accenture Cyber Cafe

Jamba Juice

Jamba Juice no longer exists. It’s a Hershey’s Ice Cream now.
