Dining Hall food- What's your take on it?

I have heard so many horror stories about the food there. is it that awful?I f not what are the best things to eat there

the tombs is pretty good and its cheap

I haven't heard that it's flat out awful. The complaint I've heard the most is that even though the food is decent, it gets repetitive. Students told me they order/eat out atleast once a week.

It's like any dining hall. Cafeterias in general really aren't great, but Leo's is better than some I've been too. You'll come to know that Thursday is the best day of the week thanks to the chicken fingers. Things do get repetitive, but you can always make your own sandwiches, pizzas, waffles, or whatever else you want. The fruit is wonderful though which made me really happy because some dining halls have awful fruit. You'll deal with it when it gets too repetitive. Just know that other people have it so much worse. The view from the dining hall is also amazing, and it's actually a lot of people's favorite place on campus. You'll come to spend hours there for weekend brunch because you love Leo's so much.

Yeah Its pretty much the same kind of setup as any other dining hall at any other college. When I went to Leo's the food was pretty decent, and i really liked the sandwich options and stuff. It might get repetitive, but you'll just have to get really creative to beat it.

yeah just be creative. today i made a personal pizza w/ tons of pepperoni, beef, lots of cheese, etc. not that bad actually. So yeah, you can make your own pizzas(put the stuff on it, give it too the staff and they cook it), and they also have a similar option with sandwiches(check off what you want, ie. cheesesteak, chicken steak, etc. w/ whatever toppings). You can also make your own sandwiches. You can make your own waffles anytime too. There's always sandwiches, pizza, burgers, fries, pasta, ice cream, frozen yogurt, fruit, pastries, cake, pie, etc. I honestly don't like the main meals, they do get repetitive and for some reason i can't eat them and i eat A LOT, lol. Personal preference though. Breakfast/brunch on wkends is standard fare, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, french toast, waffles, potatoes, etc. I actually like breakfast the most, b/c i guess it's not that easy to screw it up, haha.

what kind of meal plan would you consider best to take...?

i've got the 10/wk right now. Definitely enough. You'll most likely eat lunch and dinner, not bfast, b/c it's so early. And, you might not even feel like eating @ the dining hall every day. I still don't understand the 24 meals a wk plan....haha.

Late Nite, probably.

what meal plan options are there?

why is everyone ragging on leo's? it's not homecooked food, but you're in college what do you expect?

who starts these rumors anyway? it's not like we're eating prison slop or MREs

My only experience with Leo's was two summer's ago at the international relations summer program. All I remember is that it at least seemed so awful that we basically never ate there.

There's nothing wrong with MREs...

Edible food.

The fruits in Leo's are sometimes rotten.

Do not even start on it being 'college food.' I have eaten at many other schools, and the dining services are not nearly as poor as Leo's.

i've eaten @ Cornell and the food was AMAZING.
It also would've been better if we had more options. I've visited a friend @ Penn and they've got dining halls, a nice food court, supermarket, diner, coffee shops, etc. Sure we have a few of those, but it's not nearly the same quality. Even GW has a nice supermarket. Oh well i guess, haha, we're not here 4 the food, though it does help.

I don't have a problem with Leo's. I really wish, though, that there was a way to apply meals to the places in Hoya Court. With the cost charged per each Leo's meal, seems like they could work Hoya Court into the meal plan somehow. I only have 10 meals per week but I usually have some remaining, and it's sooo frustrating to pay twice for meals (the unused + whatever I end up eating).

I've eaten elsewhere, and the food's been fairly decent at Georgetown.

yeah Cal food was the same quality..

I've eaten at Penn, Harvard, Tufts, Hamilton, Williams, Berkeley, Columbia, USC, BC, UDel, and maybe some other places that I'm forgetting. I'd say Leo's is towards the top of the list. It you want to see what bad food is like, try Williams. Leo's is like 20 times better than it. You really can't expect that much from any cafeteria whether it's your high school, college, hospital or somewhere else- cafeteria food isn't great in general because it's really hard to make things in large quantities. Luckily we have other options as to what to eat if you get sick of Leo's.
