Hey guys, I got accepted into CAS Class of 2016.

I was just wondering which dining plan would be the best.

Any insights on the dining plans and which is most convenient, etc.

Thanks!

Congratulations on your acceptance! There are several threads on this board addressing meal plans, search and you will find more than a few opinions. My daughter is a freshman athlete and she chose the 250 plan because it gave her the flexibility she needed to use dining points when she didn’t have time to go to the dining hall. Also the points and meals roll over week to week and semester to semester. She did end up purchasing a fair amount of food using convenience points, but that was not necessarily out of need. You mainly need to decide if you are going to go to the dining halls for all/most of your meals and how much flexibility you want with dining points.

Alright! Thanks! I’ll look at past threads.

I was also thinking about the 330 or 250 plan, but I’m afraid that it might not be enough.

Keep in mind that the number of meals assumes a full year, not a semester. In other words, if you sign up first semester for the 250 plan, you actually get 125.

It really depends on your schedule and how often you are planning to eat. Last year, when I lived in a dorm with a dining hall I got the 14 plus plan, which gives you 2 meals per day in the dining hall. It ended up working out fine. However, if you know you wont be eating on a consistent schedule, I would recommend going with the 250 or the 330 plan, because the meals roll over. You also get more dining points this way. The good news is, you can pick one and if it doesn’t work out you can switch up until pretty late in the semester.
