Dining

Does anyone know what the dining is like? On my tour they refused to let us see a dining hall, which is somewhat concerning.

Not really surprising. I think the quality of dining hall food at the U is mostly lacking. Of course, I also know people who are very happy with meal plans. What are your expectations?

If you are talking about the atmosphere, some of the facilities are very nice while others…aren’t.

What facilities should I avoid?

In my opinion, Sanford is the best. All have the same ingredients but the preparation is better there. Bailey is also a very nice space. Pioneer and Centennial kind of suck all around but if you live in superblock (which I recommend) you will eat there sometimes. If nothing else you’ll have some fun stories.

I really wouldn’t worry about it - you’ll either disagree with me and like the food or else just grin and bear it. Mealtimes are a good social opportunity and eating with your friends is more important than getting the ‘best’ UDS food that day.

Sanford and Middlebrook have the best food. Go to these as much as possible.

Pioneer and Centennial have the worst food. Avoid them.

Comstock has good breakfasts.

I’ve been to all of the dining halls, and Centennial isn’t too bad.
The most redeeming quality about it is that it’s got late-night, meaning it opens until 12am Sunday-Thursday. It’s awesome.

The food quality is fine. I mean it can be better but it can definitely be worst.

I think the best halls are Sanford and Middlebrook. I think Centennial is by far the worst. Usually variety determines how good or bad the students perceive the food to be.

The new dorm will have amazing food though so you should check it out when you get to campus.
