UW Madison Law and Marquette allows their students not to take the state bar to practice in that state's jurisdiction provided that they excel in certain courses in law school...question being, is that a big disservice to the legal profession as the bar is essential to become competent and well-versed in practicing? What do you think? Should schools adopt this more?

This is not a school but rather a state bar or state policy. No law school can independently do this on her own.
