Direct Medical Programs?

Hey everyone this is my first time using CC so I hope I'm doing this right. But right now I'm in the application process and I've noticed many direct medical programs out there. I want to know the opinion you have on these programs and it would be much better if you are actually in one or have been through one. Is it truly worth it? I mean my stats aren't top of the line or anything so I'm not expecting to get into northwestern HPME or one of the best direct meds. But is it worth it to go to one of the other direct medical programs that have a smaller school and not so good med school to be guaranteed a spot? Or should I go to through the traditional route? ANY information would be super helpful.

I think it’s worth it, but it really depends upon you as a person. You may want to go to a top-level school with no guarantee rather than a mid-tier one with the guarantee. It’s really a personal choice, so it’s up to you to make that decision. If I were you, however, I would just apply to both bs/md programs and regular undergraduate schools and see what options you have if you get into both. G’luck!

"not so good med school " does not exist in the USA. Most Med. School applicants dream of getting into ANY Med. School in the USA, any single spot will do for most. Only about 43% of them reach this goal every year. Choose the route, that suits you personally.

Alright thanks guys! I actually am applying to both regular and direct med programs, so once I get some decisions I guess I’ll ask you guys again on your opinions. Thanks so much!
