Hello, I just want to know whether there are some students who think it is the end of the word because of their bad SAT I or not.

So to those students, I want to say that you should not get depressed. I had a 1380 out of 2400 and my college list even include IVIES! So if this can calm you....

If there is no way to retake as in my situation, you just have to save what is savable!! Try to maximize your chance through the other materials of your application!

Yeah I know a few people who have got into really good schools, despite their SAT scores. I guess SATs are only a portion, but its nice to control and not worry when they are good.

bballaz, I am wondering why you so elitist? did you get an amazing 2400 on that test? Because of people like you, I opened this thread! I already have been treated by all the words that qualify globally an international student with zero chance who will waste his time but I do not care, I will apply whatever it takes, and if you are still hesitating about your application, go ahead guyss! we never know!

haha you`re very goofy and your way of thinking is goofy also. Are you nervous because you which school you will attend? or you are attending a "crap" school? Do not use this thread as a wall of lamentations!

bballaz: You are simply stating the obvious. The original poster obviously knows that a 1380/2400 is not a fantastic score, which is the reason the thread was created, and I think the title pretty much explains that. Who are you to judge someone's entire academic career based on one measly test- it seems that you are the idiot here.

@ ruskie: no way your friend got into stanford without something else in his application that was outstanding. High GPA? liked by teachers (good recs)? Maybe he just wrote a killer essay.

All I have to say is good luck with the Ivies. jw, where else are you applying, and do you have anything else going for you that you think will help balance out that dog-dung score?

It's nice to have hope even with a low score... but no one portion of your application can compensate for another portion unless you have a hook (athlete, URM, super rich). You'd be doing yourself a favor to be more of a realist than an optimist when it comes to college admissions.

I got a 1650 on my first time. I'm an 11th grader. The testing center was terrible. I should've cancelled my scores but I wanted to see what I'd get.

This site just attracts the kind of people who are counting more on their grades than anything else to get into college. You'll see lots of laundry lists of "great EC" but if you notice, people with ridiculous EC's all get the same "decent" comments. Why? Because the average user on this site is just one of many who flood all the top schools with cookie cutter "top student" applications. There's zero respect for the other side on this site in general, but I suppose it is what it is.

Obviously having a low score isn't going to be of any help, but it's hardly the end of a college career. There are plenty of other ways to be qualified.

I took it as a sophomore, junior, and senior..my score on my essay went down each time ..lol and talk about bad test centers..my last one they didnt start til 9 to "make sure everyone had an oppertunity to show up", and we didnt leave til 2:30!..sheesh, they should regulate that stuff! but i guess thats a whole 'nother topic!

at noob, of course he had a high GPA, a sick essay about how he almost died coming out of his mother's womb, some good ec's, don't know about his recs, but I meant he was not an URM, legacy, first generation, Athlete, or anything like that.
