^ i agree with phanatic... be nice and stop fighting

phanatic - That's why colleges require essays and teacher recs - I don't think someone who picks fights and calls people names will get very far in their college pursuits, and you can bet they'll blame others when they don't.

everyone here can relax , I'm not applying to any ivy league schools

good because i am

Seriously, me too. It's okay, I doubt anyone with that disposition could get into anywhere that requires an ounce of getting to know the applicant. Best forget any schools that require an interview; the two hooligans bashing the people who give any opposition wouldn't do well at all!

Readers beware: This thread contains lethal doses of irony.

^lol :) sorry for ruining the thread guys

To those who still do not understand that I do not need to be told I must be realistic, I think your reactions simply illustrate your fear to compete with "incompetent international student" who might take your place into an ivy and provoc your rejection! I opened this thread once again to share my experience with people like me or at least like Foreman!! First, your arrogance really bothers me! If you were that intelligent, the first thing you should have done was not TO DIGRESS if you have clearly seen the TITLE of this thread! This must belong to one of the basics of an ivy student:know how to write! Second, I am not enough stupid to GO AND TELL TO MY PROFESSOR I STARTED SPEAKING ENGLISH LAST SEPTEMBER ! because I am still learning english and will be ready for sure before fall 2009 to be able to attend college class! THIS can be consider as a smart challenge instead! I dont care about your satiristic comments! I wanted to apply and I did! So what if I got rejected?you know? what I already have been accepted in a Canadian top school, THE POLYTECHNIC SCHOOL OF MONTREAL so I still have an ensurance! You better stop bragging with your stats or your plans! I think you still have a long way to go to reach maturity! Do you know what is thought about American college student? That THey elusively become mature as long as the 3rd or the 4th year of your college cursus is not achieved! Fotunately, they are some good and trusted source of hope like Foreman or.... who will I am sure thrive in correcting this obscure and unknown perception of you! I think You have to wait the day where the LABORATORIES OF YOUR TOP SCHOOL will mostly be occupied by AMERICAN SCIENTIFICS instead of a bunch of PERFECT IQ ASIANS to be allowed to talk to international student like me in this elitist way! So I will truly know that I am not capable to even breath to air of a US TOP COLLEGE!
I am not saying this because I am angry or whatever, I just want to clarify the purposes of this thread and remove from your pretending boiling head your obscure idea and interrogation about my skills! That said, I want to WELCOME THOSE WHO HAVE A DISASTER SAT and who think they can be better IN DA CLUB BUDDY!!! :)
hOLLA AT YOU!

PERFECT IQ ASIANS?

you sure sound angry (and racist) to me..

dko, I've been following this thread for a while and it seems that every single time someone tries to go back to the original point of the post there's someone else to bash you. I on the other hand want to thank you. Because of you and how optimistic you've still managed to be, I feel much better about my own chances despite being surrounded by 2400s and perfect SAT IIs that fill this forum constantly. I totally understand why you got the score you did, and regardless of where you are applying, I wish you the best of luck. I hope that some college is able to see past that score and will admit you based on your other qualities.

thank you jcancollegebound, your the first one to share my viewpoint on dko that ive seen thus far on this thread

Yeah so I saw...

You NEVER said you were international anywhere on your thread. Even if you are, that doesn't change anything. Even YOU know that you have low chances for some of the colleges you have applied for, hence the title of your thread. That's not the point at all. I couldn't care less about whether you are the perfect applicant, or if you made up all your stats. You are biased, stereotyping, and insulting. Nobody here really said that stats were all colleges were looking for. Instead, you decided to go on the defensive, and starting spewing a godawful list of stereotypes about Americans, perceived maturity, elitism, and Asians.

I honestly think you have an ego problem, which is little different than those who show off their perfect scores and stats on this site. You actually want to be seen as special, some kind of imperfect bulwark against elitism in the face of your personal challenges. Well guess what... the world is not exactly black and white and the Ivy League is just a damn defunct sporting confederation. Your ideas are appreciated, but we don't like to be patronized either.

let's see...I pointed out my brother with dyslexia went to Saint John's U and is now an MDPhD and a full professor on Yale's faculty. I also noted that my daughter, who has ADD, got lower SATs than the OP but intends on attending RIT to study biomedical photography. My son had a 2340 SAT and I noted he was one of those lucky ones who never had to study and achieved acceptance to a top school easily, and my best guess is that it was due to exceptional essays and terrific teacher recs (ie, he has a great PERSONALITY). My argument has been not that the OP or Foreman cant overcome low SATs, but that a bad attitude is insurmountable and transparent to Adcoms, ESP at top colleges who go over apps with a fine tooth comb.

This thread is turning into a pat yourself on the back competition...

its going right back to what jcancollegebound said it would

actually for me its low GPA :)

As a parent and therefore MATURE SUPPOSED person, you should easily distinguish the shape between RACISM, NERVOSITY AND A KIND ADMIRABLE COMMENT ON ASIAN STUDENT! i ACTUALLY SAID THAT THEY HAVE PERFECT IQ TO IMPLY THEY ARE SMART INDEED! THANKS!

^^ foreman, for you it's a bad attitude which is frequently reflected in a low GPA , because teachers tend to not give bad apples a break.

i dont see how applying to colleges with a low SAT is a bad attitude
