so i’m going to be transferring to a private catholic university and I’m wondering when they call do check my discplinary record, how much information do they keep confidential. I was involved in a alcohol incident in my freshman year of college. Is there any way my potential future college find out that it was an incident related to alcohol or will they just know i had a disciplinary record?
Most of the time, you have to give permission to disclose the incident in the Dean’s Report (kind of like a background check for an employer – you have to sign over permission for them to check). There’s almost no way you can hide it, so I would just write an addendum stating what happened and how you’ve learned your lesson and won’t do it again, etc.
