Discovery Weekend in Sept. 2007

huzaaah! got accepted too

got accepted too! i'm really excited for this one...

do they send out rejection emails? cause i havent heard anything from them

Hurrah! I'm in! Which part of the United States are you guys from? Just saw my e-mail a few minutes ago and now I am unbelievably Excited!

wait...do u know if its easier for those accepted to the program to get into the school...because actually, my ACT score was not high at all and i got in...

The acceptance rate from students who attend Discovery Weekend is significantly higher than the overall acceptance rate. However, it is certainly not 100%.

Having said that, I can't imagine they would give you an invite to Discovery Weekend if they looked at your app and knew that you had no prayer of getting accepted to the College. They are casting a wide net with Discovery Weekend, but not that wide!

SAT/ACT scores are relative. A score that is "not high at all" for wealthy prep school student may well be in an acceptable range for a different student in a different set of circumstances.

I think it will be a lot of fun, but I'm really worried that I'll make a mistake when I schedule a flight. Like what if I get the times wrong or something? I've never scheduled a flight before so I'm really nervous about it. A few minutes ago I e-mailed the school and asked if it would be okay if I got to the school on Friday the day before the event started. That'll give me a really flexible schedule, and I don't want to worry about delayed flights or anything like that.

I really hope that goes alright and that I don't make any mistakes!

Other than that it should be fun.

Doesn't the email explain that you go through Swarthmore's designated travel agency with the names of specific contacts? I would assume that you just need to confirm and let them know where you are from and which airport you will be flying out from and they will take care of it. From what I recall several yrs ago, most participants from LA flew out of LAX on the same flight. Unless that has changed... D2 has already emailed the travel agency and is waiting for her itinerary.

...rejected. Bummer.

Yay, I got in! (I thought for sure I would be rejected because of my short, cruddy essays.) Got the acceptance email on Thursday and just received the same acceptance letter in the mail today. I'm so excited! I'll be flying in from Hawaii... Haha.

Oh well, no acceptance. But on the bright side....I got an application fee waiver yayy

I also didn't get accepted, but the application fee waiver makes up for the decision since thats another fee that I don't have to worry about. :)

yay
i got in too!
is anyone flying from LAX?

Yijianlin,
D2 would have. Instead, she's leaving early Friday to visit sister before heading over to Swat on Saturday.

did anyone get a fee waiver in their letter, or are they giving it to us there?

nope didn't get a fee waiver. i got accepted but the letter/email never said anything about a fee waiver. is that included or something?

I think you'll get it there.

yijianlin, im flying outta LAX on friday night

anyone flying out from detroit?

I went to Discovery Weekend, and I got accepted at swat. I'm not there now, but wow discovery weekend was a lot of fun anyways.
