Hello. New to the forum and would like to see if I have a fair chance of being able to attend UC.

If there is anything else you would like to know, just ask.

GPA is on the low side. SATs are fine. ECs are meh. UChicago’s essays are extremely important, so make sure you write some awesome ones.

Know that your financial aid depends entirely on need(if UChicago follows the pattern at Ivies/elite schools). If your family makes <60K a year, you’ll likely get a full ride. If it’s closer to 100-150K, you are looking at closer to sticker price.

Thank you for the reply. As additional info for anyone else who may reply: GPA will hopefully rise by the end of first semester senior year to around 3.75/4.7, but i know that will most likely not help much. I am going to retake the SAT and aim for >2300. Income of around 90k/year. Fairly average essay writer, but do tend to do better with uncommon prompts such as those UChicago offers.

GPA is a bit low, but if you can show improvement, it won’t hurt you.
SAT is great Your combined Math and Reading is what’s the most important and that score is WAY up there!
EC are not impressive at all :/. HOWEVER, for UC I wouldn’t worry. Just show them, through the essays that you’re a quirky, unique individual. It’s essential. Best of luck!

GPA is slightly below their average but your SAT is within range. Like the others have said focus on your essays. If you knock those out of the park, you have a better shot than other top schools because UCHIc puts so much weight on them.
