I was accepted at a college early action. On the last extra-curicular spot on the application, i put 150 hours of NHS-sponsored community service (which is true) and that I’ve been a member of NHS throughout high school. However,I was dismissed from the national honor society today because I turned in a required form on December 12th rather than the due date of December 10th (i forgot). Should I notify the college of this dismissal? Thanks a lot for your help i really appreciate it

.......no!

no you are in, are you nuts? why would you try and get your aceeptance pulled, its not like they are gonna check.

ohh thanks guys i was just afraid they might found out...anyways there's no problem anymore because our awesome NHS president decided to put me on probation rather than dismissal..i'll have to do several extra hours of volunteer service though which is completely ok w/ me!

i must say your prez is a jack butt, who would do that? someone is a little power hungry and wanting to get into harvard..........

Where did you get accepted to EA, by the way?

The schools could care less if you are in NHS, it doesn't mean much, if anything. You can tell it's a bogus operation if someone can get 'dismissed' because of a form. Isn't entrance just based on GPA anyway? Then you 'block' out kids that don't have your GPA and make sure they can't do community service with the elevated likes of you? Blech.

OTOH, the school does value your hours of community service, and that has not changed, so there is nothing to inform them of.

Now that you have been reinstated, I recommend you resign.

Actually, some schools care a great deal if you are in NHS, and even give merit aid based on your membership.

What you wrote was true when you sent the application in. Unless the college gives merit aid for current NHS members, you don't need to tell them about being dismissed.

NHS is useless anyways, don't worry about it. At our school, it's practically a cult, but we do nothing.
