Disneyland or the Beach?

I used up all my fee waivers for the uc's. Im paying for one more but I can't decide on UCI or UC Santa Barbara. I researched like a million times, but nothing is really influencing my decision. I want to know which is better for FILM (I know both of them have film studies). Which would be more realistic for me? This choice is really killing me! Here at my lovely stats:
Unweighted GPA:3.8
Weighted:4.04
Sat: a horrible score of 1480 (2nd time, first time i got 1420)
Act:to be determined
Rank: 43 out of 519

Major:Film (I want production, but if I have to take studies I will.)

Ec's: I'm in a program called the Teaching Academy.
I did a program called Reading Buddies
Currently doing a internship in a government class. (Film was unavailable, since my school has no film classes)
I do tutoring and editing after school in writing and english
Yardwork and babysitting
In two clubs: Destination college and educators for tomorrow
Started a book club
Fanfictioner! (Sorry had to add that)
Do reviews for books and movies
Also in Dance.

So if anyone can give me some advice i would appreciate it.
Thanks'

UCI is closer to beaches than it is to Disneyland.
One of the campus’ borders is PCH.
That aside, Orange County is closer to Hollywood than Santa Barbara so if you are looking for internships in Burbank then UCI positions you better.

Your low SAT may keep you out of both.

I’m with Beerme - Your SAT might keep you out of all the UCs but Merced.

Apply to a few CSUs just to be safe. How about Long Beach and SF?

@everybody yea I applied to 4 csu’s, so I have some backups, but I am applying to UC’s so I have more choices. Are my Sat’s REALLY that low? Everybody at my school seems to have lower scores than I do and they are IB kids!

I don’t know much about UCI, but Santa Barbara has an absolutely beautiful campus, and a wonderful laid-back atmosphere. I have also heard better things about their film program than I have about UCI (I also wish to study film). Only drawback is that UCSB occasionally has a reputation for being a party school.

I believe you have a pretty good shot at getting in there.

Is that SAT score out of 1600 or 2400?

As for CSUs, Long Beach and Northridge have the best reputations for their film programs.

Hope this helps!

It’s out of 2400. I wish it was out of 1600.

Well, it might be a bit of a push, but you have a lot of decent extra curricular activities. You may be able to balance out for that SAT score, though I do recommend retaking it just in case. A prep course for the SAT can be extremely helpful.

Alternatively, you could take the ACT and hope you do comparatively better. Or both. Both is good too.

Why don’t you apply to Chapman? You can see the Disneyland fireworks from the main gate. They have a great film school and are very generous with aid.

Ouch!
Unfortunately, if your classmates are all scoring about the same or lower, they will not be competitive for most UCs.
Really prepare for the ACT with Writing, put the study time in to score well.
If your future ACT score is better, you can submit your ACT score and forget about submitting your low SAT scores.

Lol thats what I was going to do,submit my ACT scores too, but I have to.submit my SAT, since I already put it on the freaking application. (Expect irvine or ucsb of course. ) I heard the ACT was easier? Is that true?

@slurpee64 I was going to apply to chapman, but unfortunately my teachers and counselor didn’t start their section of the Common App and I didn’t get a feewaiver in time for film prpduction. Film production had to be sumbitted by the 5th, and it is now the 6th. I really liked thay school too. :(

*Submitted my phone sucks! Stupid android.

Well, on the bright side, the UCs you are going for are both nice schools, and there are a couple CSUs that are also rather excellent for film. I’m sure you will still get in to a very nice school.
