Distance from Franz to De Neve and back

So, i managed to get Math 31b with Radko at 1:00-1:50 at the Franz building. However, i also have my computer science 31 class at the Boelter building, which ends at 11:50. Do you guys think that i'd have enough time to get from the Boelter building back to De neve for lunch, and then back to Franz?

I have a feeling I don't... If I don't i plan to transfer into another math 31b class that ends at 9:50 at franz, then get to my computer science class right after. Ten minutes is enough time ot get from Franz to boelter right?

Thanks, and please help.

Depends on how fast you walk. I can walk from Franz to DeNeve in 10 minutes. if you can manage that pace then that will give you half an hour to eat and then 20 minutes to get to belted. And you can get from Franz to Boelter in like 3 minutes. They are so close to each other.

ohh Well i also wanna consider the professors, Radko or Antieu? I run pretty slow thats for sure… takes me 12 minutes to “run” a mile… and most of time i walk…

You do know that you can pack a sack lunch using your swipes right?

lol now I do, which places accept swipes?

I know for sure that you can go into Deneve cafeteria at breakfast and use your swipes to pack a lunch. They have an area in the back where you can make sandwiches and pack fruits and what not. I don’t know if Hedrick or Covel have it.

ooh thats perfect, thanks so much ;]

Covel also does it; Hedrick does not.

My first quarter at UCLA, I had class 10-11:50 at PAB (right next to Franz) and 1-1:50 at Young Court of Sciences (across from Boelter). I walked back to De Neve (and occasionally Covel and Rieber) for lunch every time and always had plenty of time to spare. I would try to get back as quickly as possible (running isn’t necessary) just to avoid the lines though.

The food selection for packing a lunch is pretty limited. It’s just a sandwich plus a couple other things. I like having more options.

@brosiedon so there is an area in de neve restaurant that you can tell someone you need a bag of lunch in the morning?

I almost always go back to The Hill when I have a break of more than 30 minutes. Definitely doable.

@UCLAParent: they give you a lunch bag when you move in. Last year it was a blue pepsi bag. You just go to the DeNeve or Covel Cafeteria and tell them that you are going to pack your lunch. If you are eating breakfast as well they will swipe you twice. If you are just packing lunch, they will swipe you once and keep your bruin card while you pack your lunch and they will return it to you once you leave

Depends how long your legs are.

Sorry for hijacking the thread but I thought some of you kind CCers can help me with a distance question as well.

On Fridays I have math 31b at Moore from 11:00am-11:50am and then from 12:00pm-12:50pm I have psych 100a at Dodd. I saw the campus map and it seemed pretty far but I really need to take both classes and regardless of which professor I choose, a far walk is going to be involved. So is 10 mins really not enough time to go from moore to dodd (even if i run)? Or should I consider other options? And how far would the walk usually take in general? Thanks in advance!

I think it is feasible to get from Moore to Dodd in ten minutes without running. Sometimes the campus map makes it look like an intimidating distance, but it’s really not that bad. I think with a brisk pace you can make your class with time to spare

Moore to Dodd in 10 minutes? Seriously, unless you waddle like a freaking penguin, weigh 400 pounds and have to take a breather every 10 feet, or just can’t put one leg in front of the other, it will take 5 minutes max. Go from Moor either around Powell between Powell/Royce through Dickinson Court to Dodd or Go behind Powell and either cut up between Powell/Humanities or Humanities/Schonberg and go through Dickinson Court.
