Distinguished Scholars 2025

Doesn’t look that way. Has anyone called to see if there will be more invites?

Any insight to share about interviews? Focus/criteria/questions to prepare for, etc? Thank you.

It was my daughter and not sure exactly what was covered.

Thank you

My son was awarded the DuPont as a 2019 HS grad. He attended the weekend event from Thursday night thru Saturday afternoon. I cannot speak to the virtual interview/competition process.

Overall, all kids invited are high performers. The school is looking for student leaders that will contribute to the campus academically, socially, etc. Be prepared to have your student not just answer the question - “Why UD?” but also “What can they contribute to UD?”

My son was asked very specific questions about his submitted application and essays. Some of these were in a formal interview setting and some in a more casual setting. There were some other events that involved group discussions where participation and speaking clearly/concisely were important. I am not sure how his events that weekend transfer to the virtual setting.

I would have my student review their entire UD application package to refresh their memory of essays, etc. If interview skills are lacking perhaps practice those. Best of luck!

The official notice for DiScho awards just went out this morning. Our DD got the DuPont Scholarship! We’re super proud of her! Thank you all for the information and the support along this journey! UD presented an excellent case and made all the resources available for the DiScho kids to explore the school, the classes and a lot of the on-campus activities during the DiScho events. My daughter reached out to a couple professors after the events and they’re so willing to meet with her to discuss her areas of interest. It has definitely convinced her that UD could be the right choice for her, and they will help her shape her path and reach her goals.

What were her scores ?please reply

if your child is invited to compete for a distinguished scholars you will probably receive an email in late February. Last year the weekend was virtual and the awards were given out late March. My son was chosen as a Eugene du Pont Scholar which was a full ride. He did not accept it and chose a different school but he had a 1520 SAT. His gpa was around a 103. I am not exactly sure what criteria they use to choose who they invite. The weekend was a series of virtual events and an interview.

My D18 had 35ACT 4.0UW, 4.5W 8-10 APS with all 5’s on test. Her weekend was in person. She did not get the full ride but ended up with about 24000K scholarship. She did not attend and went to Clemson instead.

What’s the gpa 103? It should be around 4 . I think it’s typo

His HS did not use a 4 point scale. They used a 100 point scale. With AP and honors classes getting an extra 9 points.

What were her scores gpa and Sat etc?
