Diversity Scholarship at Pitt. Has anyone even received it?

I am not buying into that 28 ACT score with a $15K award

Lots of lessons to be learned here, One of them is that for those future OOS applicants looking to receive ANY merit from Pitt, better have at least a 33/34 ACT and a 4.0 plus… There does not seem many exceptions to this.

Just wanted to say for the record. I’ve been on College Confidential for a year or so. I’ve just never decide to contribute therefore not needing an account.

@carachel2 I agree with what you said about Pitt’s transparency on scholarships it’s quite vague. In fact after receiving my October scores I completely threw out any thought of getting any type of merit scholarship due to the information on their website.

@Setter4life Believe what you want… Just thought I should share.

I only decided to share my experience because I realized it’s not the norm and I thought it would shed light for other users. My experience might simply be an exception but there’s also the possibility that it’s an rare occurrence that never gets posted. All applicants don’t participate in CC. I’m just saying… you never really know.

Students are more than just mere scores. I’m not going to act like I wasn’t obsessing over getting a higher score to “secure” my spot but I would like to believe that I have more to offer than just an ACT score. I tried my best to share what I could offer to Pitt’s Admission through their application just like every other applicant who applied.

Ultimately I can’t tell you what went through the Admission’s Office mind when they distributed money. Once we turn in our apps it’s out of our hands.
(Anyways, do you really want to go to a school that doesn’t see the same value you see in yourself?)

Best of wishes to all future applicants.

All good! Not here to argue with anyone. It is March and decision time. Siting with some of these acceptances for close to 5 or 6 months. Time to move away from those schools that make no sense and those that did not make NCAA tournament . (Just kidding folks, do not get mad at me) Hopefully, they will address some of the shortcomings on the information page in order to make clearer for future applicants hoping to get some merit. . Good luck to everyone.

In engineering and possibly in nursing, which are smaller departments, there might be a desire to have more ethnic, gender and geographic diversity represented in the class.

So who knows why the committee picks one applicant and not another.

It is holistic and competitive.

You might have a chance to receive a scholarship, but it is not guaranteed.

If you truly want to attend Pitt, if it would be affordable with a small award, I would let your admissions rep know that. Maybe something can be done, if not all funds have been given out.
And maybe not, but it’s worth a try.
