Diversity scholorship at VU?

I heard they have a great scholorship at Vanderbilt, about creating diversity. I'm a white/non hispanic male, but i'm also a member of the German American Partnership Program, a government sponsered program that is a two way mini exchange. Could I be able to recieve this scholorship, and does anyone know the scholorship i am talking about?

i highly doubt it

i’ve heard of a few people that recieved this scholorship that are not a “minority”

I know which scholarship you’re talking about. Those who receive it are called (I quote from the VU website) “Chancellor’s Scholars – students with outstanding high school records who have worked to build strong high school communities by bridging gaps among economically, socially, and racially diverse groups and who have demonstrated significant interest in issues of diversity education, tolerance, and social justice.”

AND “The approximately 300 recipients of these scholarships in one of our three signature scholarship programs are guaranteed full-tuition awards plus summer stipends for study abroad, research or service projects.”

(The “three signature scholarship programs” they’re talking about in the paragraph above are the Cornelius Vanderbilt, Chancellor’s, and Ingram Scholarships. They’re extremely competitive. You must be top-notch academically to receive any of them. Recipients of the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship, for example, are typically #1 or #2 in their classes and/or the top 1-2%.)

You can learn more about the Chancellor’s on the Vanderbilt website. Undergrad admissions - Financial Aid - Merit Based Scholarship.

Thanks, I realize how competive the CV scholorship is, and its probably a long shot for me.

Hey lbpatriot,

I was a recipient of the Chancellors Scholars scholarship. Although I’m sure the requirements fluctuate every year, I can tell you my scores/activities/etc to give you some idea of what has been enough in the past to qualify. PM me if you’re interested.

Even if its a long shot, I would still go for it. I filled it out honestly not expecting anything and I was surprised but thrilled that I got it. You have nothing to lose :]

I’m interested! I’m sure many others are too, if you’re willing to go public. I completely understand if that makes you uncomfortable.
