I'm a URM and I've been looking for colleges that are economically and racially diverse. Is trinity diverse because I've read threads that say otherwise?

Trinity really isn’t diverse. There are some minorities on campus, but they often exist as tokens. There has been some racial tension over the past few years, effectively manifesting a relatively privileged and homogenous student body. Bearing this in mind, you may want to look at more diverse NESCACs such as Wesleyan or even Conn College.

Wow that’s kind of sad to here. I thought it would be a little more diverse since its in the city.I already applied and have my college list set. Did u go to trinity @nescaccurrent

I read about the incident in 2011, have there been any recent major incidents? @nescaccurrent

You may also find some helpful things to look into here

You may want to compare these to other colleges you are looking at, but a higher percentage of minorities doesn’t necessarily equate to more acceptance or intermingling

Trinity has some URM representation including a new president who is a black woman.
I am currently a student at Trinity and I am not sure where nescaccurrent currently attend school, but he is not correct. Trinity is one of the founding members of Questbridge and has a strong network with Chicago Posse AND New York Posse. We embrace more diversity and are determined to have a more diverse student body. As a Questbridge Scholar, I am happy to have Questbridge, Posse, PRIDE, international student, and traditional student friends. I don’t think attending Conn College or Wesleyan University would mean that you would interact with more different people; honestly, both schools have a negative financial aid policy towards international students and have a small amount of international students. Trinity provides 100 demonstrated need financial aid to all international students which has helped bring more socioeconomically diverse international students and bought our international student percentage from 3-4% a year to now 11% per class year.
In addition, our new President, an accomplished African American neuroscientist who was a Dean at Tufts University, is building new “mentoring networks,” which will assign groups of freshman students in each dorm hall with upperclassmen and faculty mentors. This is intended to bridge more racial and social interaction and provide all students with a network during their transition to college.
