Just got mine and I’m soooo pumped to apply! It’s the last week of school, however, so I kind of have to scramble to get my transcript together, etc. But I truly hope I get accepted to DivOH and, later, to Amherst ED Who else got a letter and is thinking of applying? And if so, will you be attending the September or October session?

I did! I’m definitely applying…from what I’ve read on here it sounds absolutely wonderful! I’m vacillating between the two dates…I wish we could choose more than one What about you?

I know! I definetly wanted to apply to both so I don’t miss out on meeting anyone :] But when it comes down to it, I think I’ll go to the October date because September date coincides with my field hockey season. Either way, I’ll be honored to be accepted!

I was invited as well! I am very excited to apply! What are your ethnicities? I am multiracial- caucasian and asian. Does that play a role in acceptance, since it is called the “Diversity” open house? And in their statement about how they prioritize the invitation of people who have limited financial resources, how would they know if you have limited financial resources? I hope I get accepted :)

I’m still not sure which session I’d do. I suppose I’ll worry about that when I’m more sure of my fall schedule.

I did! I’m thinking the September session works the best for me, but I have to see whether it conflicts with an Academic Decathlon Invitational…

I’ve got the same question as swimHYPW- if you’re listed as two of the ethnic groups (in my case hispanic and white) would it be better just to check one or the other?

I hope to see you guys in September or October! :D

Just list how you actually identify. As an African American, I really hate it when a bi-racial Black person who actually identifies white claims a Black identity when they think it’s to their advantage. If you really do view yourself as bi-racial say so. If you’re see yourself as Hispanic, say so. If you view yourself as white, just say so. Honestly is the best policy.

to SWIMHYPW–

If you got invited, they probably want you to attend. They consider you “diverse” enough, so no worries.

yep i got invited too
im really excited! :)

seebo123, i don’t know if that’s true because they invite roughly 1000 kids but only accept 200 :(

And I’m Ugandan, swimHYPW.

Elbeeen-

I was referring to SWIMHYPW’s question on his/her race.

And yes, I know they invite a lot of people, since I got invited too. And then got accepted to Amherst.

seebo123, wow that’s awesome! if you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats (GPA, SAT, SATII, ACT, Rank) at the time you applied for DivOH? And after DivOH, were you accepted to Amherst RD or ED?

Ah yes, my stats.

At the time of DIVOH, my stats were a bit low. My school does numerical avgs, and does it by semester. At the time, I had an 91.2 avg (up to junior year grades). After first semester senior year, I had a 94.8 avg.

I only took the ACT, and I got a 30 on it. Class rank was 130 out of 600. Considering they accepted a LOT of people from my state this year, I’m guessing it was my extracurriculars and/or my essay.

Extracurriculars: Got the chance to sort of be a Poet Laureate, for a time; I write articles for a local magazine; accepted into two competitive writing programs. I also talked about how I am/was working on a screenplay, and how I have been published before, and other things.

Accepted for regular decision. I’m really not that impressive, so I hope I…inspired you? Made you feel super smart?

I got an invitation, too! I’m excited to apply but I’m not sure which session to list. I’m South Asian.

I put September, anyone else? :)

i’m feeling september too, actually, haha. i didn’t submit it yet, though. still have to write the essay and all that. i’m so excited to fill it out though!

I’m doing September too!
Yeah, I’ve got to finish the essay too… that’s the hardest part! URGH.

When do they let us know if we are accepted? :)

Early September which is wayyyy too long to wait hahaa

hello, everyone! i know this might sound dumb, but is the DivOH invitation a really big deal? i just recently became interested in Amherst, and i realized i received an invite in the mail! everyone seems really excited to get one haha.
