Do 6/7 Year Medical College degrees have the same value...

I was wondering if degrees earned from 6/7 year medical programs have the same value as degrees earned from a traditional 8 year medical program? Also, I don’t really know what the M.D. and B.C. things mean? Could someone explain how this works?

What do you mean the same value?

At the end of either route, you’ve earned an MD, are a doctor and are able to apply for and enter residencies to complete your medical training.

MD = Doctor of Medicine.

It’s a terminal graduate/doctoral degree earned after the completion of a baccalaureate degree that gives one the right to take advanced medical training and eventually become eligible for a US medical license.

In combined BA/MD programs (6 or 7 year programs), you complete your undergrad degree in 2/3 years. You’ll go to undergrad year round to complete your BA (baccalaureate) in general biology then enter the medical school portion of your program once you have completed your BA. All BA/MD programs have basic requirements you must meet to be retained in the program and to advance to the medical school portion. (Things like maintaining a certain GPA, earning certain MCAT score, and meeting other benchmarks specific to the individual program)

I have no idea what the BC is that you’re referring to. Do you mean BA? BS?

BA = Bachelor of Arts
BS = Bachelor of Science
