Do admission officers make connection between different essays?

If I talk about one thing in detail in my Common app essay, and talk about the same thing but in much brevity in the supplemental essay, can I assume that they will read both and make connections? I don’t have enough word limits to cover the topic in my supplemental essay as it is one of my minor points, and if they are going to make a connection, it may even seem repetitive or unnecessary.
Thanks!

This isn’t something to over-think: in most cases an AO is going to be devoting only minutes to your essays. Do not ask them to think / extrapolate / piece things together. If it is a minor point, treat it as a minor point. Keep honing until you can get to the essentials. You have their attention for a really short time: make it easy for them to get the point.
