I don't understand this process. How is an interview a part of admission process? How important is it? How do we set it up? When? Where-Starbucks?

THey call you. Thats all you need to know...start camping out by your house phone.

sighs I'm never home...

No, not everyone gets an interview. Many people last year did not get an interivew (it really depends on 1) if there is an alumni club in ur city and 2) the number of alumni willing to do interviews). Many students even in NYC didn't get an interview last year and were still accepted. I wouldn't sweat about this. If you get a call for an interview, you should by all means accept the offer (its an opportunity for you to ask questions, its not a test to see how well you do.) There is very little emphasis on the interview itself (considering not every student gets one). So if you get an interview, you should do it, if you dont get offered one, don't sweat. You can find out if you have a local alumni club and ask for one, but nothing will be held against you if you dont have an interview.

yeah as people said not everyone gets an interview, so don't worry about it if you don't. if you do get the call though, make sure you accept it, if anything to show your interest in the school. as one of the ad-coms said when i went to visit princeton before i applied, it definitely can't help when they're reviewing your application and they see "refused interview" in big red letters.

I probably will, I looked up the alumni in my area, and they had a post-it up that was looking for alumni to interview Princteon freshmen applicants, they said so far in their history they have interviewed 100% of th epeople who apply from my state.

shrek2004 is correct. Our city has an active alumni club. S didn't get an interview and he is at P.

Somewhat unrelated, but I turned in apps around the 18th of October and got an email from Princeton telling me my file had been made on the 31st. Are all emails sent out then? Is there that large a delay with the emails? Does it mean something was off with my mail? And does it impact whether or not I get an interview?

I had a large amount of time pass before I got an email. I turned in my app. on the 23rd of Sept. and didn't get an e-mail until 18th Oct. Why so long? Your guess is as good as mine. I would really like an interview so if I don't get any word by sometime next week I will try to contact the local Princeton Alumni Club, there is one in my town.

Interviews very rarely make a difference in whether an applicant is accepted or rejected. I think they are done as much to give alumni a sense of continuing ownership in the school as they are done to glean any useful information Interviews will almost never help you, and will only hurt you if you do something incredibly stupid like showing up intoxicated, insulting the interviewer, or pretending your enthusiastic about something such as national politics and then not knowing basic information, such as who is the Senate Majority leader.
