Hi, I applied to Cornell regular decision, and I got an email from a Cornell alumni in my area saying he wants to meet with me... I was wondering if everyone has to do an interview or is this a special thing? I'm applying under an English major ....

thanks.

They contact a lot of people, not everyone. You can view it as an interview I guess though it doesn't affect your chance of gaining acceptance. It's more like its there to help you with any questions

Alumni Contacts provides an additional letter of recommendation. It most likely won't break your or help you.

Having an alumni contact is no indication of the status of your application. It only reflects the amount of alumni resources available in your area. Not having a contact can't hurt you, but if you are contacted, by all means put your best foot forward.
