Man a lot of people have been picking on Asians lately. Pretty funny actually.

because they ARE full of faults! :D trust me, i live with two. one is a parent, the other a brother. both are no help to the counterargument.

LOL man thats too funny.

My boyfriend is English...he has a decent sounding "posh" Southern accent though. (I can't stand Northern accents..even Cockney is pushing it a bit too far.) But English guys--probably because of the accents, at least Southern ones--are hot as hell. I have to admit that my boyfriend's teeth are lacking though, but he makes up for it in height and eyes. :)

did you watch love, actually!?

damn that colin is a pimp.

Yeah, but Jude Law is by far fitter. drool

And my boyfriend is hot hahaha, but that's because he's quarter Brazilian. ;p

But nah, maybe it's because I've spent a lot of time in England, but I have a damn fetish.

"i LOVE english accents and generally think/assume (correct me if i'm wrong) that english guys have much better manners towards girls compared to, say, asian guys."

im disgusted.

dang, don't even get started on the brazilians....i am known for my brazilian fetish ;)

why do some people say "british accents" britain isnt just england!

dear god if anyone likes scottish accents (part of britain) or welsh, then you can jog on!

well i think scottish accents are cute!

^some scottish accents are alright but usually they just sounds really aggressive and rubbish! you can get an odd nice welsh accent too but usually it just sounds like someone farting out of their mouth

"why do some people say "british accents" britain isnt just england!"

They all come from the same style of accent.

Scottish, Irish, RP, whatever, the phraseology usually stays the same.

For example, whereas most Americans would say, "Did you go to the store?" using the past tense to express and action that occurred in the recent past, most Britons (and most Indians) would say the same phrase, "Have you gone to the store?" using a perfect present tense.

I think beyond the accent itself there are turns of phrase and parts of grammar structure that are fundamentally different.

matt30 you are joking??? im from england mate and talk to scots, welsh, irish and english everyday and to say their accents are the same is just comical!!!! hell! not even all english accents are the same (as established earlier)

And yes the Scott accent is very rough, especially when they become emotional. They often place an odd emphaiss at the end of hard 'r" words.

"im from england mate and talk to scots, welsh, irish and english everyday and to say their accents are the same is just comical!!!!"

The phraseology is the same, not the accent.

The same could be said of American English. Standard midwestern, Southern, AA Vernacular (not much different than southern), the regional accents of NY, Boston, and the North-East all come from the same family of accents.

^not really mate! someone from yorkshire would say "im goin up shop for cuppa"

whereas a posh londoner would say "im going to the shop to get some tea bags"

whereas a cockney would say "bblah blah (cockney rhyming slang"

whereas a youth who follows the hip hop culture in england would say "sup bruv, im offski to the shop to get me some tea bags for my mum, the slag"

whereas a scot would say "im goin up the shops for a wee bit to get some haggis"

etc etc

HAHAHA...like the Cockney one

All of this, of course, using proper English. Slang varies more than I care to examine....

The funny thing is, a few years ago when I was touring England (London, Liverpool, Nottingham, ect..) people, mostly in the rural areas, had a hard time placing MY accent. One person thought I was a Kiwi and another thought English was my second language and I was a German. It was strange, to say the least.

I'm from California (a few miles east of Hollywood) to give you a frame of reference.

German accents are hot...and Russian, too. And Welsh...maybe I'm just weird, though?

well wherever you go in the south, most of the youth will talk like this
