Do any major (non-National Merit) scholarships pay any regard to SAT/ACT scores?

I was surprisingly accepted ED to William and Mary :). However, I'm signed up for the December ACT and I really need to know if it is worth taking before I waste 10 more hours or so on it. In other words, do any scholarships (outside of the ones that W&M has) focus on ACT/SAT scores or even take them into account?

My SAT is 2130, by the way, but I might get a higher ACT and my GPA is really bad so a high ACT might give me a competitive edge if scholarships look at this at all.

Most merit scholarships highly consider ACT or SAT - it is used to determine grade inflation when many kids have high GPAs… However, GPA is usually looked at as well. You usually need a high SAT and a high GPA.

What is your GPA?

3.33 unweighted… which is god-awful. Are many merit scholarships independent of school… because I won’t get any at W&M.

If you’re looking for private scholarships to help you pay for W&M, that’s not likely. Private scholarships are hard to get, are often small, and usually ONLY for freshman year…so not a lot of help for each of the 4 years.

If you can’t afford W&M, then you need to decline and apply to some schools that will be affordable.

How much are your parents saying that they will pay?

Oh, that’s not a problem… it’s just I want it to be as cheap as possible.
