I had a nice 5 minute break after the first two sections and every two sections, then at the end we dug down and tested for over an hour.

I like starting with W because it’s the easiest section for me to breeze through. Finding grammatical errors is really, really simple for me. Lo and behold, the paradoxical Chinese kid who has better English grammar than her Caucasian peers. I don’t prepare for the essays anymore and usually come up with examples on the spot. Then again, having an encyclopedic knowledge of news and literature helps too, haha.

Oh yeah, I would love to start with a writing section too. I almost always get a -4 or -5 but this time I did way worse because it was later on in the test and I was exhausted :|

P.S.: tell me about it. I moved from Panama 5 years ago with almost no knowledge of English.

Nowadays, I write beast essays, have a 95 in AP Lit, have been top of class in English since 8th grade, and consistently do well in the writing section (except, of course, for this time -_-)

Knowing Spanish is actually extremely helpful for the SAT. Did you know that myopic means nearsighted? Maybe you did, maybe you didn’t, but it was on the SAT I took yesterday and I knew the answer bc “myopia” in Spanish (and apparently in English too) is an eye disease that prevents one from seeing things out in the distance. Comes in handy :)

Oh dang. I feel for you, man. I was born and raised here, but I correct my parents’ grammar…

I’ve been an ace at English, AP Lang as well as honors since 9th grade. (:

I’ve got you beat - I take Latin, and it hasn’t failed me yet for Sentence Completion!

Hahaha yeah SC can be tricky. I can get away with 19/19 sometimes, but then other times I’ll get a 16/19

I usually only miss one or 2 SC’s but the passages kill me. I miss 3-6 a section.

I would prefer to do the essay first. That way it is the first and last thing you have to write on the test.

My ideal test:
- Essay
- Math
- Writing
- CR
- Grid-in Math
- CR
- Experimental Math
- 20-Min Math
- 20-Min CR
- 10-Min Writing

CR is just so weary. Math I am focused for the whole section because if you want to do well you usually want every second to count and be focused for. Writing is alright, I don’t mind doing the questions because I find this section the least difficult (Or the least frustrating at least). CR is a B****. Not because it is very hard (I do well on CR), but because it is SO boring. Usually, I have enough time to be lax and still finish a section. So I usually wind up losing focus and reading lines multiple times just because I have no attention span.

Ideal Test:
1)Essay
2)CR
3)Writing
4)CR
5)Math
6)Experiment (VERY GOOD REASON)
7)Math
8)CR
9)Math
10)Writing

I LOVE having the experimental section 6th. It makes it much easier for you to figure out that you took an experimental section or not. Usually experimental sections are hard, so knowing after section six that it was experimental really calms you down that you didn’t bomb a section or something.

(You can tell you have an experimental because you know for a FACT that you will get 1 REAL math and 1 more REAL CR…so you can, by process of elimination and some inductive reasoning, figure it out.)

I would much rather have the CR’s earlier because that is when I am most focused.

Writing section.

UGH! That section drives me insane

I love the writing section. I wish it was earlier on in the test though, I always get it at around section 5. By then I’m more tired -> get more wrong :(

I’m fine with writing, just read every sentance like this:
I know that…
If it is a sentance with that suffix on it then it is correct. You will blatanly see what is wrong with it.
I hate CR the most by far. I am so relieved when I get a math section.
