Do college admissions look at senior grades?

I know on the official transcript it shows fresh/soph/junior year but do they also look at senior grades? Basically I want to raise my GPA(It's horrendous, 2.9, though my weighted is 3.6 and I'm like 59th out of 306) but do admissions bother seeing my senior year if they think I suck?

I also want to do some more extracurriculars, but I don't want to make it look like a laundry list. I plan on joining the year book committee, recycling club, and helping decorate the fall play/spring musical in art club. Are these considered weak ECs?

IIRC, yes, they will see your first semester senior grades unless you apply early.

Depends on college. A very large number, including majority of public universities, base admission decisions on grades through junior year and do not want to see any senior grades before the decision is made. Those use senior grades only to withdraw your admission if the grades are bad. The rest, for regular admission, either require or recommend that you provide first semester senior year grades and use them along with other grades to determine admission. Thus, you need to check the rules of the colleges that you are considering.

Generally, the top tier schools are concerned with the senior grades, but the lower ranked school would probably care less.

First semester senior year grades do matter.

Second semester they’ll still want to see just to make sure you didn’t fail all your classes or something.

So if I send in my colllege apps before January or so, will they wait till I send in my senior first semester grades to make a decision?
