Do colleges assume you're telling the truth?

Basically wondering do colleges assume what you stated is true until evidence shows that it is falsified. Now dont get me wrong im not trying to lie on my application. However i have a big problem with proving my community service work. I volunteer for my local rescue squad and teaches at the local Chinese school among like a billion other things. For the former I had a disagreement with the cadet advisor over some issues and lets just say it might be difficult to get a recommendation. For the second i have no clue who to talk to...and the school is on Sunday so doubt ill make it before the deadline.

Anyway, im wondering if colleges will just assume what i wrote is bs because i do not have proof, or do they call to verify. Even though my cadet advisor dislikes me, i doubt that she will say that i didnt do any of what i did. Just cant count on getting a big favor from her. Hell, i dont even want to ask for it.

Anyone know anything about this?

bump, does anyone know? Whether colleges believe applicants are fundamentally good or bad :P

yes they assume you tell the truth unless there's inconsistency in your app. get a teacher to mention it in a rec or something.

this question in its many forms, comes up a lot.
