im thinking about going to the uc's, maybe ucla or berkeley. do they care that much about my writing score?more importantly, do they look at my combined english/writing score or do they look at the 2 scores individually?

the reason is b/c i originally got a 32 on english, but i got a 9 on my essay, and so the combined score is a 30 :(. and i really do not want to take the act again. any info is greatly appreciated.

You met the freshman writing requirement, so I'm assuming that means you did pretty well.

From what I believe, less emphasis is placed on the writing portion compared to other sections (the UC's don't even bother to read your essay.) A 9 is a great score on the writing section IMO (I got into Berkeley with a 9.)
