Hey everyone. I keep hearing that the writing portion of the ACT isn't that important when it comes to college admissions. Is this true for all colleges or just some colleges? I'm curious since I don't think I can do as well on writing on my next ACT as my previous one (score: 10).

I'll be applying to UCs // USC if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance.

I don’t think colleges care much as long as your writing score isn’t drastically lower than your other scores

So like…an 8-ish would be alright for UCs // USC?

Depends. Like I said, if you scores are mostly 33+, and you get an 8, that will give you a 30 combined writing score. That would be lower than all your other sections, and probably wouldn’t look to good. As long as you get a 10+, you are absolutely fine though

Alright, thanks. Let’s hope I can pull off another 10, lol… I forgot how I prepared for writing last time -_-x"
