I’m a sophomore in high school and am currently taking AP Calc AB. I was also planning on taking the BC test this year along with the AB but then realised that you can’t do both. So my question is: do colleges care whether I take the BC test this year and not do the AB test or if I do the AB test this year and next year take the BC class/exam? Do they care when you take the highest level math at your school or do they just care that you took it at some point?
Thanks in advance.
Some WANT you to have math Senior year.
For clarification, I would take other math if not taking Calc. (ie AP stats)
It makes sense to take the AB exam this year, then take the BC exam and course next year, eventually moving on to an elective such as stats senior year, no?
If you know the material for the BC exam (although I don’t see why you would, if you’re taking AB right now), you shouldn’t need to take the AB exam separately. If you take your school’s highest-level math class before your senior year, it would be good if you could find a way to take a college-level math class (like multivariable calculus) at a local college. Of course, colleges won’t penalize you if this isn’t an option (or if it’s too expensive, or you can’t get transportation).
