Haha I’m wondering the same thing. Ever since I started lifting for football I’ve enjoyed doing it on a regular basis. I’m just wondering if it’ll look strange to list it in my ECs.

It’s how you spend your time. SOme people volunteer, some watch cartoons, some work, some play sports. Weightlifting is a sport, and other sports are good to mention.

I am putting it on mine. I think colleges should be able to realize that it shows several positive qualities - responsibility (looking after your body), determination, commitment, challenging yourself, etc. I’ve only been lifting for a year or so, but I think it’s worth mentioning.

Would it be a sport or “Athletics: Club” if I just do it, not with a team or anything?

Thanks for the responses

Should i list my squat/bench/deadlift too jk

I’m going to ask my counselor before I put this on my app, but I think CC > counselor anyways :p

If your lifts are high enough, list em so they know what will happen if they deny you :P

bump. I would like some more thoughts on this

this is ridiculous. I think all these posters are being sarcastic.

If your weightlift competitively, and ideally if you’ve placed from time to time then it’s a significant EC. List it. Consider it a sport.

Otherwise don’t list it.

There’s more to ECs than model UN and debate club.

I say list it - it’s what you do!

It’s how you are spending your time, so you should list it.
The caution I would have is how many hours you are listing for participation…are you really lifting weights for an hour and a half every single day?
