In one of the essays for a university I was writing to last year, I wrote something EXTREMELY dogmatic and potentially offensive to some people. Back then, I thought it was a great way to portray my confidence but looking back, I gravely regret making such a remark and feel it was not only arrogant, but very reckless and unnecessary. (I was rejected to that university by the way, but hoping to apply again as a transfer). Will the college see me as a new applicant or might they somewhat red flag me as the "rude applicant" that made conceited remarks last year, frowning upon me once more?

P.S. I'm not attributing my remark as the sole responsible factor for getting rejected from that college. I merely want to apply with a fresh clean start.

nope, most will ask if you have applied before, and if so they will reopen your previous file with all your stuff in it.

would it be a really big deal if i say “no”? I have a lot of remorse for writing what i said and if I were to click “yes”, I don’t want to remind the dean of admissions my lapse in judgment that would give off a rather poor impression of me.

it was a really careless mistake. i feel that that section in my essay doesn’t accurately reflect who i am and as i stated earlier, i want to apply fresh, no past achievements helping me or no past blunders hindering me.

It would show a lot more maturity to simply click “yes” and apologize in the additional information section…

you’re right DoinSchool, that was so obvious I didn’t even realize it, thanks! I’m simply going to tell the truth and try to rectify my past mistake rather than trying to hide it.

Good on you. I think, depending on your explanation, it could even work slightly in your favor to show how you’ve grown. good luck
