I am curious to know what my chances are at going to UC schools. 1st semm soph: 2.41 2nd semm soph:2.83 junior year 1st semm: 3.167 junior year 2nd semester:4.167 senior year first semmester: 4.33. I recieved a 1900 on my Sat and my 10-12 weighted would be a 3.4. But I have improved dramatically Junior year do to a personal experience. I play sports, have really good ec’s as well. Great letter of rec and great essay. What are my chances?
at what? a UC? you can probably get into merced and riverside with these stats, not sure about others. If you really do have great ec’s and letters of rec and essays then you could get into higher level UCs. Maybe look into CSU’s as well.
No. They like it when you do worse /sarc
Of course they like to see improvement. Is that your UC weighted GPA?
Yes
I am a San Diego resident. So maybe SDSU? I was hoping either UCI or UCSB
I have a great essay on how a personal experience changed my life and helped me succeed in academics
UCI and UCSB are out of Reach. You need around a UC GPA of 4.0. UCR/UCM and maybe UCSC would be possible. Are you a Junior or Senior? SDSU could be possible. Other than UCB, UC’s do not consider LOR’s.
Junior
What is the difference between 10-12 gpa and UC gpa?
Also, I read threads with people that got into UCI with a 3.2/3.3? I have had family go there with 3.8’s and 3.5’s
With a 3.4 GPA and 1900 SAT, you’re not guaranteed admission to any UC, but you might have a chance at UCR and UCM. I would look at some of the better CSUs like SDSU.
Average GPA for both schools is 4.0+. Yes there are always exceptions and it will depend upon intended major. The more competitive the major, the higher you want your stats. To be a solid match, you want to be at or above the averages for GPA and Tests scores. Essays and EC’s will impact your chances but UCI especially really likes those 4.0+ GPA’s. Anything is possible when it comes to admissions.

UC GPA is 10-11 grades only since when you apply your 12th grades will not be available. You get 8 extra honors points for taking Honors/AP/IB or DE courses (8 semesters) in your 10-11th grade.
Here is a good UC GPA calculator: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
So even in you do as well as predicted Senior year, it will not be included in your UC GPA which is the GPA used for admission decisions. Having good grades Senior year, however will maintain your provisional admission if accepted.
Ok. Does anyone know how competitive political science is?
I think some of the UC schools are definitely within your stats range, especially because you’re able to show very consistent improvement. But I’d still keep in mind that some like Berkeley and UCLA may be high reaches. Good luck!
As stated above, UCR/UCM and UCSC are good target schools. Applying to the other UC’s is always worth the chance since you never know. Good luck
