UC Irvine UCSB

I am a senior in high school, my rank in my class is 30th with a 4.01 GPA 10-12 and a 3.8 GPA on the UC scale ( I think ). My SAT score is 1580 (second time) and my ACT composite score is 22 (first time; plant to take again in December). I am varsity captain of both Track & Field and Cross Country. I am in multiple clubs with leadership positions in 3. I have done over 30 hours of community service. Do you think I could get into either Irvine or Santa Barbara? (I don’t know what I want to major in yet)

Your GPA and test scores are below average for UCI/UCSB. Both would be Low Reach schools. You need to look at probably UC Riverside and Merced and some of the Cal States if you are a California resident.

How about UC Santa Cruz?

Same as @Gumbymom, I think only UC lower tiers may be possible.

UCSC would be a High Match/ Low Reach depending upon intended major. Your SAT test scores are about 300 points below their average and ACT is 5 points below. It will still be a tough admit. UCR and UCM would be your best chances. Plan on taking the Dec tests??? It would really help to bump up the scores.
