<p>In regards to college admissions, do colleges like UC Berkeley consider your 1st semester of senior year, along with your previous grades? I have a 3.97 overall weighted GPA, but I'm sure with my 1st semester of my final year since I'm taking all AP classes, I'll have over a 4.0 weighted.
And also, do they consider ethnicity in applications? Does that give more edge to an applicant?

<p>Only in an extremely rare case with the the UCs see your senior year grades. Other colleges will look at them, however, in the Regular Decision round.</p>
<p>I believe your 1st semester grades will be considered in the mid-year report. I say this because my S go THREE (?!) B’s in the 2nd semester of his junior year, a critical period that reflected less favorably on his UC GPA, but he still got accepted. I think the fact that he got straight A’s on his mid-year report helped him get into Cal’s Engineering program last year. I think your ethnicity will be considered if you are a URM but not so much if you’re not.</p>
