I just took the ACT and got a 28 comp, 33 Eng, 31 Math, 25 Read, 24 Sci. Obviously, the latter scores need some work, but by working on the reading and science sections I might lose some points in the English and Math sections. Do colleges take your highest individual scores on the ACT like they do with the SAT?

When they send the report the individual scores are on there...so most likely yes at least thats what an ACT rep told me at a college fair

Unlike the SAT, most colleges do not cherry pick the highest ACT subscores you've earned. There are a few exceptions: WUSTL is one, and I believe there are several more. But the good news is that, unlike College Board, which automaticaaly sends all of your SAT scores (I and II) to your colleges, with ACT you get to decide which scores you want colleges to receive.

From what I have heard most colleges do not take subscores from different ACT dates to make a nice new composite. I wish they did! So far my DD drops in one area if she brings another up. Maybe Dec will be the charm!

contact the admit office. you may be surprised as to those who do recalculate and take the best subsection. it winds up costing you more to do so but may be worthwhile.
