Do colleges look at something like this...?

So, basically, our school's high school drama program won 1st place in the regional one-act competition. Then, we were able to move on to the State competition, where we won 1st place. Because we won the state's competition, we now have the honor of participating in the New England Drama Festival, which is in New Hampshire.

Of course, I am incredibly excited because I really love acting and all the friends I've made in it, and I really enjoy just going places and looking around other schools and wandering the halls (haha don't ask).

But aside from the fun and excitement of going to the New England Drama Festival, I'm just wondering whether an honor as big as this would help you in your chances when applying to a college, despite the fact that it's a "club effort."

Yes, if you put "drama" and then put "won state competition" blah blah they would see it.. but..! What would really make a difference is if you wrote an essay about if for a college (im sure some prompt will fit this) and then you can elaborate and say what a great experience it was...
