Do colleges look down upon homeschooled students?

Does anyone attend Keystone National High?? Any graduates who went onto to semi-prestigous colleges? I'm applying to selective art institutes and I'm still weary when it comes to them not looking down upon me for being schooled at home and independently.

I'm taking honors courses junior year and APs my senior. I wasn't sure how the level of difficulty would be this year, as it was my first being schooled at home, and I didn't want to be in over my head.

Ergggg.

Some may, but a lot of colleges seem to be thrilled to find students who really care about learning. (which describes many hs'ers!).

Stanford accepts homeschoolers at a rate much higher than that of the general population. Harvard has said that it likes hs'ers. MIT has a page on its admissions website dedicated to homeschoolers. My dd received all kinds of positive feedback when on her college interviews. Actually, the admissions folks were very positive about hs'ing -- the older alumni seemed less favorable about it.

In general colleges do NOT look down on homeschooled students.

I have no idea what the specific reputation of Keystone National is, as we have never used it.

no i dont believe colleges look down upon homeschoolers. i applied to like the top 15 schools and i had no problem.....instead it just makes the alumni interview that much more interesting!!!:)
although i must say i have heard from some admissions officers that some colleges have like one admission officer that looks at all the home school applications mainly because they can be very complicated....thus make sure you keep your explanation about classes and curriculum short and simple. i left the task of explaining such things up to my counselor and teachers! therefore, i was able to have the admission officer from my state look at my application.

Several different college professors have told me that they generally enjoy having homeschoolers in their classes. Also, homeschoolers are being admitted into colleges at a rate equal to otherwise educated students.

Their applications are probably a pain in the butt to go through, as they can be so radically different than other students'. Haha... But I'm glad to see more colleges with a "homeschooling admission" sections on their websites. I think that will make colleges more receptive to homeschoolers, as they then have a standardized way to review homeschool applications.
