Do Colleges really care??

So i am on the verge of getting a D (68) in Cal BC in my high school...

If your asking for all my other grades i have straight up A's.
This is my second semster of my senior year and through out my whole high school life i have never gotten a C or lower. So this is my first ever grade below than a C in any semster.

I only applied to UC colleges...
will they kick me out if i end up getting accepted but get one D in an AP class my last semster?

I wouldn’t know for sure; however, I am pretty sure that they wouldn’t. Calculus BC is an extremely hard class, and I am sure that they realize this.

But don’t worry. I am sure that you can get your grade higher by the end of your second semester. I, personally, am in a situation similar to yours.

Did you app for math or engineering major?

sunkist: oh man i know it’s such a ridiculous class!! i barely passed with a B- in 1st semester

UTP: No i majored for Nursing - UCI
and Biology - UCSD

thank good ness its a science class xD

How qualified are you for the UC colleges you applied to? If you’re pretty solidly or over qualified, don’t worry about it too much. BC is a very hard course and people’s grades tend to drop senior year anyway.

I know for, like, the really hard colleges one grade like that isn’t necessarily fine but it’s okay. However, more than one raises a serious red flag. College admissions understands mistakes. Don’t make it a trend and you should be totally fine.

well i am not an amazing student:
gpa: 4.06
sat 1: 1770 (math: 680 reading: 540 writing: 560)
sat 2: 690math 2 790 japanese (w/ listening)
rank in school : 3/60
no sports
comm. hours: 200 from hospital + 25 from other places
2 major roles in drama
2 minor roles in clubs

but my back ground is alot more colorful xD
which i heard is definately going to shine me in my app ^+^

also i applied for UCI, UCSD, UCLA, CSULB

hoping for UCI and UCSD

Your SAT scores aren’t phenomenal, but everything else is really solid. You should be fine. Try not to worry. If you really want to, talk to your counselor about sending in a letter of explanation as to why your grade dropped so drastically. Colleges may not read it, but they’ll acknowledge it and it’ll make you feel better.

You know Japanese? That’s so cool!! Jealous.

i noe my SAT sucks!! itz cause im a math person (haha to the fact that im failing BC right now)
and thats only like 1/3 of the sat xD and i cant read for crap (lol)
so i was really hoping my gpa and background would over look my SAT scores lol
and i heard UCSD looks more on GPA than SAT

yah im japanese/persian (weird mix XD)

Yeah, I suck at reading under pressure (I’m dyslexic). I avoided the ACT like the plague. IDK how I did it, but I beasted the CR section. My writing was dismal, though, in comparison to the rest of my scores.

Don’t worry. You’ve done all you can now. Just wait until you hear the decision.

Ah, so cool! I’m mostly eastern european. Nothing too exciting there.

yah but im kind of bugged out right now cause a lot people are getting replies from UCI and i heard they do it in a wave.

but i have no idea wat a wave is…
do u?

I think they mean in very large quantities over the course of one or two times.

D: does that i missed the wave? T_T
