Do colleges rescind admission after you've committed?

I realize this is a vague and kind of stupid question, but I wanted to grab folks’ attention. Let me clarify. I am a senior on track to graduate in May. I have already committed to my college and have a full-tuition scholarship there. Basically, I want to know if my attendance and grades went down in my last marking period, would I be jeopardizing my college enrollment and/or scholarship? Or am I pretty much fine as long as I graduate and pass my classes?

Colleges do rescind offers, so no, I wouldn’t say you’re fine. I wouldn’t jeopardize a full tuition scholarship.

Do not get any D’s, F’s or felony convictions and you will be OK for admission. Does the award letter state a minimum GPA for the full tuition scholarship?

@TomSrOfBoston Cool, thanks. Definitely not committing any felonies. In college I have to maintain a 3.5 GPA for the scholarship.

One of my daughter’s classmates lost his acceptance and a full tuition scholarship last week by doing something incredibly dumb. Oh, yeah, it happens.

@bjkmom Would you mind sharing what it was that he did? I just have a case of senioritis and I want to stay home sometimes. So really the worst I’m doing is skipping school to take a nap.

Let’s just say the police were involved.

Depending on the laws in your state and how strict your school & district are, truancy [“skipping school to take a nap”] can involve the police. Why take a chance? And you might still learn something …

Does the admission offer give any specific conditions that you have to meet?
